Plans for the summer

I was chosen in December to be one of Hillsdale's two yearly Quayle Journalism Interns. I will be working at The Washington Examiner in D.C. and most likely living in the Heritage Foundation. Can't wait!

Things are zooming along at The Collegian...only three more issues this year. Editor in chief applications for next year were due today! Turned mine in....exciting!

Back to the Collegian

It's back to the Collegian, with new responsibilities.

I am News Copy Editor this year and will also be designing News pages.

In addition, I will be freelancing for the Jackson Citizen-Patriot.

Last day at the Times-Call.

Today is my last day interning at the Times-Call in my hometown of Longmont.

I have had a full summer, writing approximately 20 articles. I have completed my part of a 6-part investigative report on the local school district, which will run in October as a special section.

It has be a wonderful and fun experience overall!

Reaching cruising speed

Things are going well at the Times-Call! I've had 12 stories published, 8 of which have been on the front page, often as the punch or totally above the fold. It seems I forgot to actually put in the website last time:

Searching my name will yield everything I've written so far. My most exciting piece is about major layoffs at a local Butterball turkey plant due to increasing feed prices due to ethanol regulations.

I am beginning work with the paper's education reporter on a six-week series comparing our local school district with 10 other districts. This will run in the fall.

So far, smooth sailing.

Summer Internship

I am going to be interning part time at the Longmont Daily Times-Call this summer! I will continue to work at Longmont Florist part time as well.

Can't wait!

I have also been chosen to be the News section copy editor for next year's Collegian. Good times will be had by all.

Collegianation

My Collegian work continues to keep me busy. Good thing I enjoy it! Recently, I have started doing photography work for the Collegian as well as writing.

I am still on the look-out for summer newspaper writing internships.
